About the Class

Join us for a series of engaging classes for kids 6-11 years old, designed for beginners (those with less than 3 years of Mandarin study) to practice in a supportive and interactive environment. Our classes run for 90 minutes with a break and are held weekly, providing ample time for learning and SPEAKING practice/tone drills. At the heart of our class is the objective to help Mandarin students progress and gain confidence in their communication skills. We prioritize speaking practice and emphasize the correct pronunciation and tone, essential elements for effective communication. This 10 week course is focused on speaking, pronunciation and human communication - we will not be introducing Simplified Chinese reading/writing (we use Pinyin as needed). Our curriculum is thoughtfully crafted by Sophie Liang. Sophie successfully teaches in our Mandarin afterschool program - and the students made significant progress this year. She creates an interactive textbook that parents will be able to access to reinforce lessons at home. In our interactive sessions, students will focus on: Learning short phrases and pronouncing them accurately Practicing everyday language and constructing simple sentences Expanding vocabulary and language proficiency To ensure personalized attention and effective learning, we limit our class size to 8 students. In the event of an absence, we offer a credit for another VKC class as a one-time benefit. If there are not enough registrations, we will cancel the course. The 9 class course is taught over 10 weeks (no class 7/6) - tuition is $400. Members, please contact us for discounted tuition.
