Raising Real Kids in an AI World

Part of the vision behind The Village Kids' Club comes from thinking about the world today's children are growing up in—a world increasingly shaped by generative AI, algorithms, automation, and screens.

We aren't anti-technology. In fact, we believe today's children should learn to understand and use new technologies thoughtfully.

But we also believe that as technology becomes more capable, the uniquely human parts of childhood become even more valuable.

At VKC, we want children to build real friendships—face to face, in real time.

We want them to make eye contact, solve problems together, laugh with friends, read the room, work through frustration, move their bodies, express original ideas, and experience what it feels like to belong to a real community, not just a digital one.

That philosophy is woven throughout our five VKC Focus Areas: complex problem-solving, creativity, emotional intelligence, communication, and physicality.

These aren't simply educational goals. We believe they are the human strengths that will matter even more as artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday life. While technology will continue to automate many tasks, it cannot replace genuine curiosity, empathy, collaboration, resilience, or the joy of creating something with your own hands.

Those beliefs shape everything we do—from our curriculum and projects to our camps, afterschool program, and weekend socials. We intentionally create opportunities for children to build, make, move, imagine, discuss, and discover together.

Because if children are growing up in a world filled with artificial intelligence, then childhood should make even more room for the things that make us deeply human.
