Apr 12-16: The Earth Engineers Camp
Build a 12-foot whale, find pollution in its belly, engineer solutions, and pitch.
About the Class
THE LIBRARY (2062 Lincoln) • Monday–Friday, April 12–16, 2027 Five days to do what real engineers do, anchored by The Whale: a 12-foot paper-mache whale built on Day 1 as the week's patient. On Day 2, engineers discover staged ocean-pollution items inside its belly. Then the question becomes: what would real engineers do next? Days 3 and 4 are for prototypes: water filters, bag-replacement designs, microplastic catchers. Day 5 is the SHARK-TANK FINALE, with visiting Alameda community leaders judging pitches next to The Whale. Every Earth Engineer takes home a project portfolio with problem brief, measurements, prototype photos, scored pitch rubric, pitch deck, and Whale photo. Real engineering: research, measurement, prototyping, environmental systems, and public defense of an idea.
