Dec 24: The Lantern Lab Camp
Light the Lantern Avenue, then carry your lantern out glowing at pickup. | 1 Day Camp
About the Class
THE LIBRARY (2062 Lincoln) | Thursday, December 24, 2026 Christmas Eve at The Library is the glowing finale of The Gift Forge, our four-day gift-making week — and The Lantern Lab is a one-day pass into it: same cohort, same room, same staff. The morning is wrapping and tag-writing: holiday paper, ribbon, twine, and a hand-written tag for every gift — who is this for, and what do you want them to know? Then the whole cohort installs the Lantern Avenue: hand-built paper lanterns lining the hallway, each Maker placing their own on its mapped spot and setting a battery candle inside. At 2:30 the hallway goes dark for the Lantern Avenue Lighting — candles switched on row by row until the whole Avenue glows, each Maker called up by name. The ceremony is kids-only; families get the story in the recap photo email. Then comes the day's last image: at the 4:00 pickup, Makers carry their lit lanterns to the door for a glowing handoff on the early-dark Christmas Eve sidewalk. Every Maker heads home with their lantern glowing in hand, the gifts they wrapped and hand-tagged, and the Lantern Keeper badge on their apron. Underneath the light: generosity made concrete — wrapping, tagging, and giving something you finished yourself.
