About the Class
THE VILLAGE (1102 Lincoln) | Monday, December 28, 2026 Today the smallest hands invent ice cream. The Ice Cream Lab is a one-day pass into Day 1 of Sugar Lab, our sweet-science week — same cohort, same room, same staff. Each Sugar Lab Apprentice suits up in a white lab coat and safety goggles, with a Recipe Notebook named on the cover. The morning is ice-cream-in-a-bag: real cream, real sugar, ice and rock salt, and a cohort-wide shake-off until every bag opens at the same moment and the liquid has turned to ice cream in their hands. Each Apprentice invents and names a flavor from the mix-in trays — Dragon Crunch, Strawberry Storm — then tastes and rates their own and two labmates' inventions, with the most popular flavors pinned to the Flavor Rating Board. After lunch and games at Littlejohn Park, the afternoon raises the Candy Tree: the cohort assembles the week's 6-foot armature together — holding, leveling, zip-tying, calling "STRAIGHT!" — then wraps the trunk, and each kid signs a leaf and ties it on. This is the day the week's Big Build stands up. Every Apprentice heads home with their Recipe Notebook — flavor invention and ratings inside, Flavor Inventor patch on the cover — and a signed leaf on the Tree. Underneath the sweet: states of matter, ratios, and honest flavor testing. Cancellation Policy
VKC Fair + Flexible Cancellation Policy We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both our campers and our organization. 2026–27 School Year Camp Policy 60 Days or More Before Camp Start Date 100% refundable, minus a 3% payment-processing fee. No cancellation fee — book early, risk-free! 45–59 Days Before Camp Start Date Refunds are available, less a $50 cancellation fee and a 3% payment-processing fee. Transfers to another week or camper are allowed at no charge, if space permits. Less Than 45 Days Before Camp Start Date No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Summer 2026 Camp Policy (for camps running June–August 2026) After May 1, 2026: No refunds. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Differences in Tuition If you transfer into a higher-priced camp, the tuition difference will be charged at the time of transfer. If you move into a lower-priced camp, the difference will be refunded (less applicable processing fees) or credited toward a future VKC program. Member Benefit Members may transfer or switch camps free of charge up to 10 days before the camp start date.
