About the Class
THE VILLAGE (1102 Lincoln) | Tuesday, December 29, 2026 Today is real chemistry — sweet edition. The Candy Chemistry Lab is a one-day pass into Day 2 of Sugar Lab, our sweet-science week — same cohort, same room, same staff — and it's the science-heavy day. The morning rotates three real labs: Rock Candy Planting — a supersaturated sugar solution, a sugar-seeded skewer, a color of their choosing, and a labeled jar where crystals keep growing at home; the Gummy Bear Osmosis Lab — gummies dropped into saltwater, plain water, and syrup water, then measured through the day as they shrink and swell; and Lollipop Mold Prep — sprinkles, edible glitter, and a stick set into their own silicone mold. After park lunch at Littlejohn, the afternoon is the day's hot-tool moment: goggles on while the Site Lead tempers real chocolate at the induction burner — the thermometer read aloud, 88 degrees on the nose — and each Apprentice is called up to have their mold filled, then carries it two-handed to the setting tray. When the chocolate sets comes the satisfying snap of the un-molding, and every kid hangs their glossy lollipop on the Candy Tree. Every Apprentice heads home with a crystal jar to watch all week and their Recipe Notebook — gummy-bear data inside, Crystal Chemist patch on the cover. Underneath the sugar: saturation, osmosis, phase change, and lab-notebook discipline. Cancellation Policy
VKC Fair + Flexible Cancellation Policy We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both our campers and our organization. 2026–27 School Year Camp Policy 60 Days or More Before Camp Start Date 100% refundable, minus a 3% payment-processing fee. No cancellation fee — book early, risk-free! 45–59 Days Before Camp Start Date Refunds are available, less a $50 cancellation fee and a 3% payment-processing fee. Transfers to another week or camper are allowed at no charge, if space permits. Less Than 45 Days Before Camp Start Date No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Summer 2026 Camp Policy (for camps running June–August 2026) After May 1, 2026: No refunds. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Differences in Tuition If you transfer into a higher-priced camp, the tuition difference will be charged at the time of transfer. If you move into a lower-priced camp, the difference will be refunded (less applicable processing fees) or credited toward a future VKC program. Member Benefit Members may transfer or switch camps free of charge up to 10 days before the camp start date.
