About the Class
THE VILLAGE (1102 Lincoln) | Tuesday, November 24, 2026 Today is kitchen chemistry, Thanksgiving edition. The Side Dish Lab is a one-day pass into Day 2 of Sprout & Spice, our Thanksgiving cooking week — same cohort, same room, same staff. Side Dish Scientists tie on a personalized apron and run two real experiments before lunch. First, Mashed Potato Chemistry: same potato, two fats — butter-and-cream versus olive oil — mashed, tasted, and voted onto the chalkboard graph. Then the Cranberry Sauce Lab, where fresh cranberries hit the pan with sugar and orange zest and the whole room hears them POP as the sauce turns thick and jewel-red. After lunch and games at Littlejohn Park, the afternoon is the Roast Veg Taste-Off: carrots, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, and butternut squash roasted in rotation, then tasted and voted to a cohort champion. Each kid also paints a dinner-plate-sized gratitude leaf for the 8-foot Gratitude Tree — and the whole class steps back to see the Tree filling out. Every Side Dish Scientist heads home with the Spice Alchemist Badge on their apron and the day's recipes drawn in their own hand. Underneath the deliciousness: comparison testing, real food chemistry, and a taste vote they ran themselves. VKC Fair + Flexible Cancellation Policy We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both our campers and our organization. 2026–27 School Year Camp Policy 60 Days or More Before Camp Start Date 100% refundable, minus a 3% payment-processing fee. No cancellation fee — book early, risk-free! 45–59 Days Before Camp Start Date Refunds are available, less a $50 cancellation fee and a 3% payment-processing fee. Transfers to another week or camper are allowed at no charge, if space permits. Less Than 45 Days Before Camp Start Date No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Summer 2026 Camp Policy (for camps running June–August 2026) After May 1, 2026: No refunds. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Differences in Tuition If you transfer into a higher-priced camp, the tuition difference will be charged at the time of transfer. If you move into a lower-priced camp, the difference will be refunded (less applicable processing fees) or credited toward a future VKC program. Member Benefit Members may transfer or switch camps free of charge up to 10 days before the camp start date.
