About the Class
Over ten weeks, your dancer goes from their very first plié to performing a real classical ballet solo. Ballet Beats is a progressive course, dancers build skills one careful step at a time and finish by learning the "Blue Bird" variation, a real piece from classical ballet. Ages: 5–9 When: Tuesdays, 5:30–6:30 PM Where: The Village, 1102 Lincoln Avenue, Alameda Instructor: Nina Kelley The ten-week journey: Weeks 1–2 — Foundations: the five positions, pliés, tendus, jetés, ronds de jambe, soutenus, pas de bourrée, and coordinated ports de bras Weeks 3–4 — Adagio: balance, extensions, arabesques, slow ports de bras, and controlled work on and off the barre, plus stretching and strengthening Weeks 5–6 — Jumps: leaps in all five positions, temps levé, pas de chat, sissonne, assemblé, changement, and tour en l'air Weeks 7–8 — Turns: pirouettes, soutenu turns, and chaînés across the floor, building to a tour en l'air challenge Weeks 9–10 — Choreography: learning and rehearsing the "Blue Bird" solo Ballet builds strength, balance, coordination, and the focus that comes from mastering something step by step. Because the course runs as a true progression, dancers feel themselves improving each week, and finish with a solo they're proud to show off.

Bookings made with the discounted class pack are not refundable. For classes and evening events: Please cancel 72 hours in advance through the "My Bookings" area on our website. For courses: if we need to cancel or reschedule due to teacher illness, we will provide an alternative date/time. Please note any refund will be less the payment processor fee of 3%. (Our card processor keeps its fee even when we refund you, and we don't get it back. VKC credit has no such fee, which is why credit is worth 100% and a refund is worth 97%.)
