About the Class
"Young Citizens Super Camp" offers an extraordinary week-long journey through American heritage, combining civics, history, science and creativity into one comprehensive camp experience! Young explorers will celebrate Presidents Day with engaging activities about leadership and American symbols before diving into fascinating science experiments with patriotic themes. Midweek features an exciting expedition through Alameda's local government and history, connecting national concepts to our island community. As the week progresses, junior chefs discover America's culinary diversity through regional recipes and food geography, developing both cooking skills and cultural understanding. The grand finale challenges young inventors to create innovative contraptions inspired by great American inventions, culminating in a special Young Citizens ceremony celebrating their achievements. This camp develops well-rounded knowledge while fostering civic pride and creativity! Daily Structure: • Morning: Welcome and introduction to the day's theme followed by primary learning activities and hands-on exploration • Mid-day: Lunch and themed active games at Littlejohn Park • Afternoon: Creative application and project work followed by daily showcase and reflection Daily Highlights: • Day 1: Presidents Day Special - Presidential history and American symbols in the morning, flag art and patriotic crafts in the afternoon • Day 2: Science Quest Lab Day - Chemistry experiments and engineering challenges • Day 3: Alameda History Expedition • Day 4: Cooking Around America • Day 5: Creative Contraptions - Engineering challenges inspired by American innovations in the morning, invention showcase and Young Citizens ceremony in the afternoon CAMP DETAILS & LOGISTICS • Ages: TK-5th grade (most campers are K-3rd grade) • Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Extended care available 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM) • What to Bring: Labeled water bottle, one hearty snack, and a nut-free lunch • Attire: Comfortable clothing, trampoline socks recommended (no-shoes facility) • Note: Please leave toys and personal items at home or in lobby cubbies • Sibling Discount: 10% off for second child with code "Siblings10" Cancellation Policy: • Transfer Option: Transfer to another student for $25 fee • 45+ Days Before Camp: Refund minus $50 cancellation fee and 3% processing fee • Less Than 45 Days Before Camp: No refunds issued

VKC Fair + Flexible Cancellation Policy We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both our campers and our organization. Winter & Spring 2025–2026 Policy Transfer Option: You may transfer your camp spot to another student at any time for a $25 transfer fee. 45 Days or More Before Camp Start Date: Refunds are available, less a $50 cancellation fee and a 3% payment-processing fee. Less Than 45 Days Before Camp Start Date: No refunds will be issued. You may still transfer your camp spot to another student. Summer 2026 Policy Before February 1, 2026 100% refundable, minus a 3% payment-processing fee. No cancellation fee — book early, risk-free! February 1 – April 30, 2026 Refunds are available, less a $50 cancellation fee and 3% processing. Transfers to another week or camper are allowed at no charge, if space permits. After May 1, 2026 No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your registration to another student or camp week for a $25 transfer fee, space permitting. Differences in Tuition If you transfer into a higher-priced camp, the tuition difference will be charged at the time of transfer. If you move into a lower-priced camp, the difference will be refunded (less applicable processing fees) or credited toward a future VKC program. Member Benefit Members may transfer or switch camps free of charge up to 10 days before the camp start date.
